Yaesu FT-70G hf pack set
Reluctantly I sold my FT-70G to help pay for a Vertex VX-1210,
it is very much fun to operate. Not as fully water proof as a US
Mil spec. pack set but still very ruggid and easy to use pedestrian
mobile , very easy to lug along for picnic table portable ops. With
the power supply it make a very nice low power base station.
With the built in speach compression  and 10 watts . The Radio
often gets very good reports,

This radio was recently restored  to specs , all new rubber switch
covers, replaced 2 defective thumbwheel switchs and with the
help of Mark, KI0PF the radio was aligned and put right on
frequency.Measured output , 10-12 PEP watts on high, 3-5 watts
PEP low setting.
I have had a lot of fun  with this radio, it's water resistant and very
rugged, weighs 14 lbs all in the pack, tuner tunes a wide range and has
a 3/8"X24 mount right on it to attach a whip, hamstick or what have
you. It has full coverage from 160 to 10 meters and rides comfortably
on the back for pedestrian mobile ops.

The FG-70G has a colorful history, they came out in the
early-mid 80's and were sold mostly to third world military,
and were reportedly supplied to the "contras" by the US. The
remainder of the run was sold in the US to amateur radio
operators, I was able to get parts from Yeasu for the rig in
2003.
