Project M151A2 MOD
The USMC , Navy Seals and other Special Forces have
a long tradition of modifying Tactical trucks for special
uses. I have decided to make my own version of the
mysterious M151A2 MOD Combat Communications
vehicle. As far as I know, the M151A2 MOD was a
variation of the MUTT Fast Attack vehicle and was a
companion to the FAV in Fast Attack situations. Loaded
with short range VHF, long range HF, GPS and UHF
Radios for a varity of command, coordination and
forward control of aircraft , The M151A2 MOD was
heavy and would need all the power it could get.
To handle the heavy load of Radios, ROPS , Hard top
and M416 towing, I've decided to get the most out of
the Mutt engine by doing Ron Rietfors Performance
Modifications . I have heard from former Motorpool
mechanics about modifications done to Mutts in service,
from mild to wild including ported and polished heads, so
what I'm doing is not out of line with what has been done
to Mutts in the past serving our armed forces!
For the benefit M151 enthusiasts I am doing the
modifications one at a time and then testing for the
improvement in performance .
