I like the very old 45/70 cartridge for plinking with cast boolits and
mellow cowboy handloads. Even with mild loads the 45-70 in a 15"
barrel Encore pistol has a bit of a kick. The grip seen here is an
experiment in design for maximum hand contact and control as well as
looks. It is designed to distribute the recoil force over a large area of the
palm and not the joints of the thumb.
The very deep thumb ledge is inspired by European target pistols of the
19th and early 20th centuries. American black walnut was used because
it was the wood of choice 100 years ago
